EHI Consultants managed and led a design team for the redevelopment of the Southend Park Neighborhood in Lexington, Kentucky.

This project involved planning and redesigning a 25-acre urban neighborhood near downtown that was affected by the Newtown Pike Roadway extension. Our focus was on addressing existing conditions, engaging stakeholders through meetings and design sessions, and analyzing data for environmental justice considerations. We also developed sustainable redevelopment strategies, including commercial, residential, and mixed-use areas, recreational spaces, and urban design concepts. EHI played a role in establishing the Lexington Community Land Trust to ensure long-term affordability of the project. Our innovative approach and collaboration with various organizations and agencies, such as the Federal Highway Administration, Department of Housing and Urban Development, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, and City of Lexington, have been recognized for their positive impact on the community and the integration of community values in the planning process.
